CANADIAN PRIVACY ACT

Canadians are increasing becoming aware of the importance to safeguard personal data and choosing only Canadian based testing laboratories, such as Maxxam Analytics Inc., to perform their DNA analysis. The Canadian Privacy Act protects Canadian’s personal information (e.g. social insurance number, address, medical information such as your genetic profile) from disclosure to any government organization without your prior knowledge and consent. Many U.S. testing laboratories have been shut out of long term Canadian contract work for DNA Paternity Testing because the laws of the U.S. Patriot Act supersede your rights to privacy protection.

A benefit to choosing Maxxam, is that unlike the majority of other DNA companies promoting services as a local company (many with satellite mailing addresses within Canada ), our testing laboratory and Corporate Office is located in Canada and therefore all of your personal information will be protected by the strict requirements of the Canadian Privacy Act. This means that the information you provide and that is generated by Maxxam, will never be released to any government agency without your prior knowledge or consent. This compares to laboratories located in the U.S. , whereby all client information would be subject to the U.S. Patriot Act, which does allow government agencies to request that your personal information be released without your knowledge.Choose wisely when dealing with DNA Testing companies. Remember that the Canadian Privacy Laws will only protect you if you deal with a company that performs the final DNA analysis in Canada and stores all of your information within the borders of Canada . Your awareness of how the Privacy Laws affect you today will make a difference to you in the future.
